“Impact of just concluded elections and Congress’s win in three Hindi heartlands on 2019 Elections”

“Drumbeats and sound of cracker bursts, Rejoicing faces and the echo of victory all around”- a sight much longed at the Congress headquarters. Emerging victorious in the assembly elections in the three Hindi heartlands- Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Congress has proved their metal and has come to a step ahead, to fight for their existence and survival.

The political gamut in India has opened a window of opportunity for Congress and Non-NDA oppositions after this win. The victory has not only raised possibilities of the win for Congress in 2019 elections but has also increased the credibility of Rahul Gandhi to emerge as a competent leader of the opposition. M.K Stalin proposed Rahul Gandhi’s name as Prime Minister and in a recent public rally appealed to the respected leaders of other parties to extend support to him and to save the nation from the fascist Modi government.

The recent likelihood of alliance of Congress, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samajwadi Party may lead to BJP falling short of seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Also, the presence of Delhi’s CM Arvind Kejriwal in the opposition meeting reflects the influence of Congress’s recent election result. The election results suggest a build of anti-incumbency for BJP in 2019 general elections.

Bhartiya Janta Party, on the other hand, has suffered a severe setback after several defeats and resignation of few leaders which lead to a decline in their seats in Lok Sabha. BJP has to gear up and reframe its strategies for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections maybe by shifting their focus back on the farmers. As in these recent elections, the main agenda of Congress revolved around the betterment of farmers that has led to their victory in Chhattisgarh. Congress would probably use the same agenda to influence are a large chunk of voters on this basis in the general elections.

Though there is a state of political uncertainty that still prevails in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. Where there is still no compete acceptance seen among Congress and their ally parties. The absence of Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav, and Mamta Banerjee from the Oath ceremony clearly reflects the discomfort in this new alliance, which can be used as a tool by the ruling party to show a weak opposition at the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
